لَآ اُقسِمُ بِهَذَا البَلَدِ

La oqsimu bihatha albaladi

I swear by this city, Makkah

وَاَنتَ حِلُّ بِهَذَا البَلَدِ

Waanta hillun bihatha albaladi

And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city

وَوَالِد وَمَا وَلَدَ

Wawalidin wama walada

And [by] the father and that which was born [of him]

لَقَد خَلَقنَا الاِنسَنَ فِی کَبَدٍ

Laqad khalaqna alinsana fee kabadin

We have certainly created man into hardship

اَیَحسَبُ اَن لَّن یَقدِرَ عَلَیهِ اَحَدٞ

Ayahsabu an lan yaqdira AAalayhi ahadun

Does he think that never will anyone overcome him

یَقُولُ اَهلَکتُ مَالا لُّبَدًا

Yaqoolu ahlaktu malan lubadan

He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance

اَیَحسَبُ اَن لَّم یَرَهُٓ اَحَدٌ

Ayahsabu an lam yarahu ahadun

Does he think that no one has seen him

اَلَم نَجعَل لَّهُ عَینَینِ

Alam najAAal lahu AAaynayni

Have We not made for him two eyes

وَلِسَانا وَشَفَتَینِ

Walisanan washafatayni

And a tongue and two lips

وَهَدَینَهُ النَّجدَینِ

Wahadaynahu alnnajdayni

And have shown him the two ways

فَلَا اقتَحَمَ العَقَبَۃَ

Fala iqtahama alAAaqabata

But he has not broken through the difficult pass

وَمَآ اَدرَیکَ مَا العَقَبَۃُ

Wama adraka ma alAAaqabatu

And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass

فَکُّ رَقَبَۃٍ

Fakku raqabatin

It is the freeing of a slave

اَو اِطعَمٞ فِی یَوم ذِی مَسغَبَۃ

Aw itAAamun fee yawmin thee masghabatin

Or feeding on a day of severe hunger

یَتِیما ذَا مَقرَبَۃٍ

Yateeman tha maqrabatin

An orphan of near relationship

اَو مِسکِینا ذَا مَترَبَۃ

Aw miskeenan tha matrabatin

Or a needy person in misery

ثُمَّ کَانَ مِنَ الَّذِینَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَوَاصَواْ بِالصَّبرِ وَتَوَاصَواْ بِالمَرحَمَۃِ

Thumma kana mina allatheena amanoo watawasaw bialssabri watawasaw bialmarhamati

And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion

اُوْلَٓئِکَ اَصحَبُ المَیمَنَۃِ

Olaika ashabu almaymanati

Those are the companions of the right

وَالَّذِینَ کَفَرُواْ بَِٔایَتِنَا هُم اَصحَبُ المَشَٔمَۃِ

Waallatheena kafaroo biayatina hum ashabu almashamati

But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left

عَلَیهِم نَارٞ مُّؤصَدَۃُ

AAalayhim narun musadatun

Over them will be fire closed in
